Method 507 is applicable to the determination of Nitrogen and Phosphorus containing pesticides in water by gas chromatography in ground water and finished drinking water. Method 634 is applicable to the determination of thiocarbamate pesticides in industrial and municipal wastewaters. Sample extraction and concentration steps in this method are similar to other 600 Series Methods. The separation and measurement of the compounds in the extract is by alkali flame detector (AFD) gas chromatography. To aid in the elimination of interferences an optional silica gel column cleanup procedure is provided. This method describes analytical conditions for a second gas chromatographic column that can be used to confirm measurements made with the primary column, as well as the gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer (GC/MS) criteria appropriate for the qualitative confirmation of these compound.
EPA Method Series Information
The EPA Method 500 series includes methods and guidelines for drinking water standards designed to identify and quantify organic compounds in municipal drinking water.
The EPA Method 600 series guidelines are typically used in conjunction with the EPA 500 series to provide a comprehensive set of methods for monitoring organic pollutants in wastewater under the United States Clean Water Act.
The EPA Method 8000 series include methods for a wide range of organic compounds, including volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds, pesticides, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
