US Pharmacopeia methods require dissolution studies using Simulated Gastric Fluid with and without Pepsin. To accommodate these requirements, we offer two formulations of Simulated Gastric Fluid test solution. Simulated Gastric fluid without enzyme is made according to USP specifications and contains Sodium Chloride and Hydrochloric Acid. Simulated Gastric fluid with enzyme comes in two parts – a solution containing Sodium Chloride and Hydrochloric Acid as well as pre-weighed Pepsin powder that should be added to the solution right before use. Once mixed the final solution will match USP specifications for pepsin activity. The 2-part formulation allows for longer shelf life of the product and for more reproducible enzyme activity.
