General Information:
Oryzalin is a pre-emergence surface-applied herbicide. It has a low aqueous solubility, is not volatile and, based on its chemical properties, is not expected to leach to groundwater. However, groundwater monitoring programmes have ientified it as a pollutant. It generally tends not to be persistent in soil or water systems. It has a low mammalian toxicity and is a potential carcinogen. It is moderately toxic to birds, most aquatic organisms, honeybees and earthworms.
EPA/USP Method
Method 638 is applicable to the determination of Oryzalin pesticide, as well as, separation and measurement of the compounds in the extract by HPLC/UV in municipal and industrial discharges as provided under 40 CFR 136.1.
EPA Method Series Information
The EPA Method 500 series includes methods and guidelines for drinking water standards designed to identify and quantify organic compounds in municipal drinking water.
The EPA Method 600 series guidelines are typically used in conjunction with the EPA 500 series to provide a comprehensive set of methods for monitoring organic pollutants in wastewater under the United States Clean Water Act.
The EPA Method 8000 series include methods for a wide range of organic compounds, including volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds, pesticides, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
